Garbage To Jewelry: Ethiopian Tribe Becomes Garbage Into Beautiful Headwear

The idea that one man’ s trash can be another man’ s treasure rings true for the tribes of the Omo Valley within Ethiopia, which use trash like damaged watches and bottlecaps to create beautiful fashionable headdresses and wigs.

The Omo valley houses numerous tribes, but the ones that will French photographer Eric Lafforgue spent the most time with were the Bana, Dassanech and Mursi. Along with modern civilization slowly creeping in to the Omo valley, the locals possess gradually been gaining access to new additions to their outfits, like soccer jerseys, hair clips and colorful wires.

Unfortunately, the advance of Western technology also offers considerable drawbacks. With the completion of a hydroelectric dam downriver, many people will lose their ancestral lands and will be forced to resettle in modern funds, where they may lose their beautiful traditions forever.

16-Year-Old Invents Stroller-Wheelchair So Disabled Mother Can Wheel Her Baby Outside

Sharina Jones was shot when she was five years old and lost the use of her legs. Thirty years afterwards, when she was expecting the girl first child, she began to question how she would manage a stroller while in a wheelchair. By possibility, Alden Kain, a Detroit high-school student enrolled in a special design class, was paired up with Jones plus tasked to invent a wheelchair stroller. After six months of hard work, his prototype was a success.

“ It was great to meet her and talk to her as to what she wants and doesn’t need, ” Kain explained to The The state of michigan Catholic. “ Talking to her was a big help, figuring out the workability from the device, where to put a diaper bag, whether or not she could unhook the stroller and how she can maneuver around in the chair. ” In a separate interview with Today, he added, “ It was extremely exciting plus rewarding to see Sharina using it. ”

Blindfolded Strangers Kiss In Social Experiment Exploring Love At First Kiss

In a thrilling interpersonal experiment, Jordan Oram, a cinematographer in Toronto, asked 8 blindfolded strangers to kiss each other after a brief introduction. The sparks actually fly in the video he shot of their sweet and awkward interactions before they take “ the dive. ”

Experiments similar to this one, which had brought other people together to share a kiss, have been done before. However , as Oram explains in his video, “ presently there had been nothing that really showed the key reason why people were kissing… The reason behind the hug: what if you meet the person you fell in love with from the first hug? What if it was like your first hug? What if you met someone, you kissed them, and then you introduced yourself? And then you built chemistry from that. ”

Some of the exchanges in the video might make you cringe, while others are completely electric! Let us know what you thought within the comments.

Western Designers Create Nameless Paints To Change The Way Kids Learn Colors

Ima Moteki, the design duo in Japan, just created a set of Nameless Paints that aim to completely change the way children learn and think about color. Instead of using color names, each white-colored tube of paint is classed with an “equation” showing which major colors, and in what proportions, were used to make the color inside.

The “ Nameless Paint” designers, Yusuke Imai and Ayami Moteki, believe that color labels are usually problematic. “ By not assigning names to the colors we want to expand the definition of what a color can be, and the various shades they can make by mixing them, ” stated Imai.

In addition to rejecting labels, the paints also teach color theory. The equations within the paint tubes help children understand some of the basic concepts behind color theory and how to mix and create new colors.
