The Most Annoying Pest Infestation In Your State, According To Google

When it gets cold outside, it sure is nice to hug up to bae at a fireplace, drink some spiked cider, watch a few Netflix, maybe chill.

It also means there’s a greater chance that a big hairy rat is inching up behind you, just staring, waiting for you to drop some snacks.

Rats are “overwintering pests, ” according to Andy Linares, president associated with Bug Off Pest Control in New York City. He defined these since insects and rodents that usually stay outdoors, “but are looking for refuge and harborage in warmer areas while they wait for the weather the change. ” Think ladybugs, stinkbugs, cluster flies, rats and mice.

Thankfully, colder temps don’t necessarily result in an all-out critter attack in your home.   “When the weather gets cold, there’s  less pest activity because unwanted pests such as ants, wasps, hornets plus bees tend to become dormant, ” Linares said. Instead, “we see more activity in the warmer weeks when breeding kicks up. “

Same goes for cockroaches and bedbugs.

We were curious as to which home pest infestations you’re concerned about most, so we asked Google. They tallied up search queries from January 1 through November 17 and, understandably, spiders are the most researched, followed by mosquitoes and cockroaches.

No matter which are your uninvited guests, you can keep them away by containing your trash within tightly covered trashcans that you empty regularly, caulking and filling in holes and cracks where pests can enter your home, and spending an afternoon decluttering. “Clutter provides places to get pests to breed and conceal and makes it hard to get rid of them, ” the Environmental Protection Agency advises.

Beloved Future Dead People, Don’t Believe in This Guy’s Plan To Resurrect You

A La man’s alleged plan to resurrect the deceased using cryonics and artificial intelligence may be dead on introduction.

Multiple news outlets these week proclaimed that a company called    Humai  is developing methods that will get previously dead people up and walking within 30 years.   But experts in the field say there’s no way Humai’s plan is feasible, and there’s some evidence the whole thing may be a hoax.

Humai owner and CEO Josh Bocanegra says the company will rely on advances in artificial technology, nanotechnology and cryonics — and some advanced planning through future dead people while these are still alive.

“We’ll 1st collect extensive data on our people for years prior to their death via various apps we’re developing. Right after death, we’ll freeze the brain using cryonics technology, ” he told PopSci. com. “When the technology is fully developed we’ll implant the brain into an artificial entire body. ”

Bocanegra says you can actually biggest challenge “will be connecting a human brain to a bionic entire body that functions with your thoughts, inch he told The Huffington Write-up in an email. “For that, we need to do research with neurosurgeons/neuroscientists (among others) and work closely in the field of nanotechnology and biotechnology. ”

Humai’s web site is basically only a launch page with a request for emails while New Age music plays in the background.

Jordan Maven, a British-based business advisor who has developed software that helps keep customers based on previous purchases, informed HuffPost that Bocanegra’s idea is  “damn near impossible. ”

Maven is skeptical because Bocanegra claims he can do — with only five employees, only two associated with whom are researchers  — exactly what scientists have been trying to do for years, and with no venture capital.

Then there might be the sticky issue of bringing a brain back to life.

“How will he connect it to a machine? You don’t just simply plug it in through USB. Nanotechnology is not an answer, that is a buzzword, ” Maven said via email. “The technology which could remove legible thoughts and ideas away from an organ made of living tissues is nowhere near anything we now have yet. ”

Andrea Riposati, a good artificial intelligence expert formerly employed at Amazon, said Bocanegra’s program is both a hoax and could be “a very effective way to rob people. ”

“Everyone think that the technology is not ready. No reason to believe it will be ready within 30 years, ” Riposati told HuffPost by email. ” But this is an amazing business model pertaining to Humai. They can collect monthly/yearly obligations from their customers promising something in the future. ”

However , there’s no proof that Bocanegra is actually asking anyone for cash, and some evidence indicates his plan may not be dead serious.

The 25-year-old’s primary company experience isn’t in tech, but in  creating beats for   hip-hop artists, according to Forbes. Plus Bocanegra has a history of Internet ventures of dubious reality.   This individual came to the world’s attention in 2013 when he created “LoveRoom, ” a sort of Airbnb home leasing system for people who wanted to rent a location where the other guests would be appealing. The idea got a lot of media interest, but Forbes noted that the company didn’t actually exist.

Bocanegra then told Forbes that LoveRoom was a “thought  that I works on if there was interest. But it was really more of a joke because I actually didn’ t think people would really be interested. ”

Yet he now maintains that each projects are for real. This individual told HuffPost that LoveRoom offers over 16, 000 and a reality show in the works, and that the media just misunderstood him whenever he previously suggested it was false. And as for Humai?

“ Humai is a legit project, ” this individual wrote. “ Yes, it’s extremely ambitious, but that’s the reason why Now i am excited to work on it. As an innovator, big ideas have always been my core motivation. Humai is obviously not financial incentive – at least not in the near future. This is a project I care deeply about and I only hope to give rise to making an impact on humanity. ”
